I have a 99 f250 with the v-10. The lower intake manifold has a hole under the thermostat housing. I put JB weld on the inside and the outside and it worked for a month. Now it’s leaking again. My question is how hard is it to change out the intake?
I had mine out it wasn't particularily hard to do. I'd say get a manual and your good to go if you have any wrenching skills.
While you have it exposed you may want to change out the fuel press reg. the knock sensor and cylinder head temp sensor as they are now easy to get at. I only did the fuel reg.
The electric connectors for the fuel injectors have tabs which lock them on they get brittle with age and may break off.
The fuel rail I just popped off of the injectors and moved aside. There was no reason to disconnect it from the fuel lines.
It would be interesting to see a picture of the hole.
You do have an O-ring in the housing, yes?
It has the O ring and its not leaking at the housing. Its about an inch below the housing. I cant get a picture because you cant see the hole with out a mirror.
In my opinion, it as easy as they come. Yeah, gotta spin a few wrenches, but everything is really well laid out.
I have my original '99 intake sitting in the shed if you need one. PM me. Truck was well maintained all its life with regular coolant changes so no corrosion issues.
Well after looking at the hole its not in the intake but its in the head. It looks like its a casting issue. There is no corrosion on the inside it almost a perfectly round hole about 1/8 inch I did a search and someone said Ford has a fix has anyone heard of this?
