I'm in the midst of swapping an 09 King Ranch interior into my 07 XLT. Everything is going great except for power to the drivers side seat. The King Ranch seats I got have the memory function which I'm going to need to bypass. Does anyone have any pointers or idea's on how to do that? Thanks!!!!
Did the 07 not have a memory function to begin with? Therefore no switch in the door.
Did the 07 have power seat(s) at all?
Did the RK seats come with the memory unit still in the seat? It is typically under the seat. Or, was it removed?
Did you get the RK power supply plug from the RK?
Is there power for the 07 seat under the seat location?
Do you have the plug(s) from the old, 07, seat?
The 07 did not have power seats. The memory module for the KR seat is on the seat itself so I do have it. I'm guessing though that it needs another input that I dont have. I've found numerous references to people wiring around this thing but I'm just having no luck doing it. Theres a lot of wires in there for a power seat.
If your 07 does not/did not have electric seats I would want to know if the power wire(s) is there. That would, of course make a difference as to what you need to do to wire in the newer 09 seat.
If there was no power and no memory system in the 07 then that would be somewhat different, too.
In my 03 Excursion the memory module is under the seat as in the KR. There is a memory switch in the door. So, to run the memory, and have it look factory, you would also need an inside door panel for the driver's door and the memory switch. Along with the wireing to/from the door to/from under the seat. The original plug(s) under the seat would also be nice.
There are a couple of plugs in my Ex. One for power and one for memory I think. Not sure though.
If you are not interested in the memory feature then I would suggest that you need to get power to the underseat location. It would be easier to solder the power plug in for connection and disconnection as the need arrises.
Do you have the plug? Otherwise you will need to solder, or wire nut I suppose, the wires together each time you choose to remove the seat for whatever reason.
I am curious how you scored the 09 KR seats?
I would think he 07 XLT would still have a power plug(wiring harness) under the carpet if it just came with cloth seats.
Thanks for all the advice but I was looking on how to rewire the seat itself to bypass the computer module. If you happen to do this swap with 08 or newer KR seats with the memory you'll just need to rewire the seat motors and switch to bypass the computer. Takes some serious time but its doable.
