292 color

can someone tell me the colors of 292 block, thanks Rod

Check out this link. If have a 61 unibody with a 292. I did red all over with black valve covers. I think 61 should be all red, but I liked the black better.

Correct and original color for the truck Y-Blocks is Black engine, Ford Red Valve Covers and Semi-gloss Black Air Cleaner just as described on the Y-Block info website.

As original 1960/65 ALL FoMoCo vehicles: BLACK engine block, heads, intake/exhaust manifolds.

The valve colors were painted specific colors, because this is how Ford identified the engine as to what size it was.

I got to scrapping the gunk off the bell housing and found it was a reddish-orange color so I scrapped on the motor and it is to. The valve cover look to be black .

It's either been repainted, or the engine has been swapped.

Reddish orange w/black valve covers: 1956/57 292's installed in Passenger Cars & Thunderbirds.

All 1960/65 engines in Passenger Cars/Trucks/Econolines were painted black.
