FPR Leaking - Help ASAP

My FPR is leaking (more like a fountain) at the screen orifice. I cleaned the screen 10 minutes ago, reinstalled the FPR, and now it leaks.

Is the large screen orifice seal supposed to go into the fuel filter bowl before securing the FPR? I haven't done this maintenance in awhile and am afraid I've screwed up something.

I'm lurking, hoping for a quick reply.

Okay, well that didn't make a difference.

Anyone know what the torque spec is for FPR retaining bolts?

Thanks Mike. I tried that already. Still leaks. I'm hoping to hear from someone who knows what the FPR retaining bolts torque spec is.

I'm thinking I don't have the bolts tightened properly, but don't want to take a chance on stripping the threads.

That's what I was afraid of. I have it snugged up tight with 3/8" ratchet and she's still pouring out.

Guess I'll be driving the wife to and from work for awhile. The only problem is, I work the late shift and she works dayshift AND the kids have after-school activities. Oh well, I'll sleep when I'm dead; or at least until I can get new o-rings.

Are these diesel-specific o-rings, or does it not matter as long as they fit?

Ford can't get the o-rings separately. Have to buy the entire fuel bowl assembly ($500) to get the two o-rings I need. IH isn't able to come up with any either. They suggested I bring the unit in and they might be able to match it up. I can do that at NAPA, too and they're closer.

I'm gonna try to figure out how I can order the kit from the website. Payday isn't until Friday.

Problem resolved.

While cleaning the engine valley, I found the missing o-ring that two different diesel techs said was not used in the FPR.

If anyone else has this issue, there are three o-rings in the FPR screen orifice; two on the FPR screen and one used at the mating surface between the FPR and the fuel bowl.

There is an o-ring that goes outside the white piece (screen holder deal) and there is an o-ring that goes inside the FPR Housing on the white deal.

So, you have an o-ring between the mating surfaces, and one inside the FPR housing.

Sounds like your missing one of them.

I found one to work, but its not the right size, but I guarintee it wont ever leak. I rolled it over the thing and I tightend the beotch down.

FPR Screen Holder

OK. When removing my fuel filter bowl tonight to get to my IPR, the little white piece that holds the screen broke off. the oring is still in tact though. My question is, when i go to put it all back together will it leak?

I did notice that it was a little loose a couple of months ago when i had it off to replace my fuel pump and i put it all back together and it stayed dry. Maybe I was just lucky, i don't know. Also, my screen is also gone. it has been out since i've had the pick-up (for the past three years).

If this piece needs to be attached to the FPR to keep it from leaking, where can i get a replacement housing? or can it be repaired or glued back in?
