New Member/ Questions
I have just joined the forum and wanted to start out by saying hey. I have a 97 Expedition Eddie Bauer, with a 5.4L and 4x4. I'm in Tulsa, Oklahoma - any other Okies out there>>??
I have a couple of questions that I would really appreciate if anyone could help me out.
Firstly, I know this sounds a little petty, but my overhead compass always says E, whether it's SE, NE or just E. It drives me nuts!!! What happened to West!!!Any idea what the problem could be or how I might fix it?? I'm pretty mechanicaly inclined ( I own an Acura Legend and spend half my life taking it apart!!) so shoot if you have any ideas that might help. I really hate having to pay Ford to hook it up to their little machines!!! Everything else in the digital console works and is correct apart from this.
Secondly, my power mirrors on both sides will only go down and to the left. I know there are 2 motors in the mirrors, one for up and down, and the other for left and right. Also, the signal lights in the mirror works. Therefore it either has to be the switch or the connnection. Does anyone have any experience in removing the door panels?? Also, does anyone know where I might locate another power mirror switch??
Thirdly, the mirror in the sunvisor on the driverside is cracked. Can you just replace the mirror without having to replace the whole visor>>?? Anyone know where I might find one??
I know that I can get all of these parts from Ford, I'd just rather not pay them ridiculous amounts of money if I can find them elsewhere.
I was also suffering from the door ajar problems but after reading the past posts I learned the WD-40 trick which seems to work real well!!
Are there any good sites that make Ford parts that anyone can recommend?? I'm new to the SUV scene so all the help you can offer is much appreciated.
Well it's nice to meet y'all - thanks in advance.

Not trying to sound curt, but I assume you do not have an owner's manual? Maybe there is one somewhere in Adobe Acrobat form you can download.
It tells you how to calibrate the compass. If I remember correctly, you have to locate your area on a given map or chart, input the code, then drive in complete circles a few time until it tells you it is calibrated.
Thx for your reply. No I do not have the owners manual, I need to buy one. I bought the Haynes manual but that didn't have it in. Also, do you know where you can buy the steering wheels that are the same as the ones that come stock?? Thx
