What is the purpose of getting a new gauge mount with the transmisions gauges and differential gauges and turbo boost. I have seen a few trucks like mine that have them and I was just wondering what purpose they are for.
On my truck I have the 3 gauge pillar mount.
1. Turbo Boost- basically to see what your engine is doing and see the affect of any performance upgrades you do. With the stock turbo you don't want to pass 24-25 psi. or you will set a code.
2. Trans temp.- keep an eye on temps so as not to overheat it. Heat equals premature wear.
3. Pyro- Keep temps in a safe range so as not to do damage to cylinders, valves, turbo, etc. Don't want to get too hot or shut the motor off too hot.
I got my Isspro gauges from SDHQ
Install is fairly easy. The part that will take the longest is drilling and tapping your manifold to insert the thermocouple for the Pyro.
I am going to be getting guages soon hopefully, with the AFE and SCMT on the way next week, within the next month or 2 I want to get guages as soonn as i can once tha ccount recovers.
I was looking at the ISSPRO guages, just a dumb question, but they come with pretty good directions right?
Also how hard is the wiring and such, I am not exactly an electrical engineer or anything, lol
thanx
Mine only came with directions for the electrical wiring. They all came with wiring diagrams. They aren't hard to wire up, can't remember how many wires though. I got all of the other instructions for installing the thermocouple and installing the line for the boost gauge from the shop where I bought them. I have the trans temp sensor in the mag-hytec trans pan that has a port for it. For the stock tranny, look in the FAQ section for the location of the port on the tranny.
If you get the Isspro, don't get the one that is labeled trans temp. get the one that is oil temp. The trans gauge starts at 140* and the oil temp gauges starts at 100*. The only time mine goes over 140* is offroading.
Also, you can get the pyro color coded for safe (green), caution (yellow), and dangerous(red) temp. ranges.
I mostly see the black gauges advertised on the sites, but I have the white faced gauges with blue needles and lighting. There might be other colors available as well.

I don't remember the cost of the gauges, I bought them at the same time as a whole lot of other parts. But when I subract the approx. cost of all of the other things I bought from the approx. total, the 3 gauges and the pillar cost somewhere around $300-$350 delivered. Could be wrong though.
Hope this helps.
Edit: Hopefully, here is a pic
