i am going to put a 351w in a 66 f100 and i was wondering what are my choices for tranny's? the truck has a 300 ci straight six in it and a four speed manual and i wouldn't mind keeping that tranny if possible. any advice would be amazing.
thank you,
Seth
Seth, You will need a st. dr. setup bell for your W that should bolt to your tranny. You might try installing it on the same engine perches, but have a set from a 302 ready to use if needed.
so i found out the the 4 speed isnt actually stock. the truck came with 3 on the tree. but now it has a 4 speed manual, so does only needing a flywheel still apply?
Oh okay sweet im glad i asked cause i was going to get a transmission from pick and pull and re build it so i could use the motor but just needing a flywheel will save me like 300 buck which is always nice. does anybody know any good sites to get a decent inexpensive flywheel?
the 351w is going to be a 70's vintage motor probably early 70's like a 75-ish. thank you for the added info i was just going to find a flexplate for any 351w. good ting i didnt. haha. where should i buy one from?

1970's vintage: From a Passenger Car or 1975/79 Econoline. No 351W's in F Series trucks or Bronco's until 1981.
oh okay well would an 84 f250 have one? and if so thats the truck i will be getting the motor from. and is there still flywheels available for that one? thank you for the advice so far its really helpful and very much appreciated.
so basically i would have to get one of those? even with all of the people building performance 351w's these days there is no less expensive aftermarket ones or anything like that? its starting to seem ridiculous that flywheels are impossible to find.
