Hi everyone. I have 2 issues with my 99 Taurus SE DOHC. First, the brake pressure seems a little low. It passed inspection like this but sometimes you have to give it 2 pumps to build up the pressure when you are slowing down. I replace both front to back brake lines and bled the system. They were rotted, but the problem is still there. There are no other leaks anywhere. All connections are tight. I replace the cap on the fluid reservoir. And it doesn't lose any fluid. I was gonna replace all the rest of the brake lines, but I dont want to do all that work for nothing and they dont look bad anyway. Also, the pads, rotors, drums, shoes are all new and there are no leaks in the calipers or wheel cylinders.
My second problem is with the a/c. The previous owner said they replaced the compressor themselves. I charged the system and the clutch keeps cycling on and off every 5 seconds. I kept a gauge on the low pressure port while I watched the clutch engage @ 44psi and turn off as pressure dropped to 15psi and the air is not blowing cold. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
I just found out from a friend that I should have kept charging the a/c until the clutch stayed running. I didn't realize that once it starts, the pressure is supposed to drop as it is filling the system. So I guess it is undercharged. i try it again tomorrow.
Lazy K, I checked the shoes and they needed to be adjusted out slightly. I went for a quick spin and problem solved. Thanks to everyone for their help.
