I think i'm going to bite the bullet and get everything ordered. Does anybody have the tool for the axle seal they are talking about that I could borrow? Some kind of special one.
I wouldn't mess with the steering box until you service everything else. Jack up the front and give it a good shake-down. Prybar method works good for checking balljoints and bearings. Check steering and panhard by having someone turn the wheel while you look at/feel linkages for play.
Clunking over bumps is probably swaybar bushings or shock bushings. You might be able to check by pushing down on the front of the truck, but those springs are pretty stiff.
At 200k, I'd suspect ball-joints and wheel bearings.
Grinding in 4x is probably front ujoints, maybe driveshaft joints.
Slop in the steering is likely panhard bushings and/or tie rod ends. It's not necessary to change the linkages, just the ends.
Hubs probably just need a cleaning, the vacuum diaphragm is probably shot, after two sets I gave up and plugged the vacuum and just use them manually, they work fine.
