Does the EGR restrictor plate go between the air box and the tube that comes off the valve cover? That tube puts hot air back into the system, so if I just restrict that some how would it add any more torque, or power?
Thanks in advance
Lars
On my 88' ( 5 speed) I put the plate between the EGR and air mass. Buy a couple of EGR gaskets and make a plate using them as a template. Take the EGR off (2-bolts) and slide the plate (between two gaskets) between the EGR and air mass. Don't know how much torque but runs smoother off the line and when you mash the long skinny pedal it wraps up the RPMs a little faster. I would not mess with the tube, look kind of cheezy and knowing my luck it would of broke. This mod is well worth the time!!!!!!
This was one of the easiest and most noticeable fixes I've ever applied to my pickup. Just F.Y.I.
Put a tin shim with 1/8 inch hole between egr and throttle body.
Sometimes when it's real cold out the CEL comes on, but nothing changes as far as driveablity, so I ignore it, it goes off again later.
The hesitation and poor acceleration went away completely.
On my truck I unscrewed the EGR pipe where it goes into the valve, cut a small circle of tin to go inside, dropped it in and re-tightened the fitting.
With the flare, the tin fits in there nice and seals good.
the tin needs trimmed good to fit in there tight without forcing it.
