2" AS leveling kit installed

I finally got my wife to take the truck in and get the leveling kit installed yesterday... I ordered it a couple weeks ago. The ARE cap dealer installed it for free because my cap was painted the wrong color silver, and they had to send it back to get repainted... Nice of them.
It sits a little nose high, but that was how I wanted it. I hate the rake on a 4x4. Now it looks much more aggressive and my aproach angle is much better.

Agreed... I'm just going to wear out the stockers first. I'm not going to go much bigger though. I don't want mileage to suffer too much. I'm more for function than form, though form does have it's merit. I'm thinking about 285s. Maybe a little bigger. we'll see. I have time to decide.

you could go with a 33x12.5 and not lose you mileage to bad. i run 35's and it didnt hurt it to bad.

Just make sure you put a programmer on it to change the computer for tire size.. Many people don't and they know their speedo is off, but never even think that their mileage is off too due to the speedo.

Nice looking truck.

Yeah, I already have a hypertech... Was gonna get a gryphon but got a helluva deal on the Hypertech. My wife can't figure out how to update the software though, so I'll have to install it when I get home.

I did this. changed my tires and never got a programmer to fix the size. i run with my tom tom on to get my speed but your right about to mpg. it shows me going less miles than what i actually am so it makes the mpg drop. i hate it.

So 04XLTRUNNER, Do you have any problem with the 35's rubbing? I didn't think the 35's would clear with the 2" leveling kit. What mileage do you think you are getting? Just curious as I am looking at getting a new truck in the next 12 months. The 1997 with 150K miles isn't getting any newer.

The wife is driving it now, but I'll be home soon enough. She works in town, so she doesn't really put a lot of miles on them. We're gonna take a road trip when I get home and visit some family in CA then CO. Hopefully that'll wear them out a bit...

they rub a little at full turn on the sway bar and lower a-arm. i had a lot of people tell me they wouldnt clear but they do. i have had them offroad also and have had no problem with the tire rubbing inside the fenders or anything. as far as mileage. i guess im getting somewhere around 16-17 if i take it easy. my computer says different but that because it hasnt been re-calibrated for the bigger tires. you would be happy going from a 97 to an 09 or 10. i went from an 05 lariat 4x4 to the 09 and i absolutely love it.

Thanks for the info. I saw that the specs suggested more lift to get the 35's to clear, but you were the first that I had seen that actually tried it. Get your computer re-programmed, so you can share some more information. What exhaust did you put on it?
