oil pan

I have to replace the oil pan of my 97 xlt 4.0 and like most of the parts are discontinued. I can still get one for the 3.0 does anyone know if that will work?

The 3.0 oil pan will not work on the 4.0 engine.

I would go to my local salvage yard and pull one. The pan is the same for 2WD or 4WD, so just look for a van with the 4.0 engine. Just a note: the 2WD has much better access than the 4WD.

wire brush and clean with solvent before you buy.
they're made from aluminum and corrode thru especially in salted road areas

Ranger/Explorer may fit, take the old one for comparison.
junke yard may give you something for your old one, scrap alum price is up.

My 3.0 has had a tiny oil leak that I suspect is the pan gasket starting to let go. I thought it might be the rear main but I can't really be sure....

I had leaky oil pan after some offroad advantures, but no reason to get new one, at JY u'll get the same U have.
Just drop oil pan... (not so easy as you think..... may be other trucks are more roomy), resurface it!!! and get new gasket with some seelant.

That's all.... and do not thinl abput oi; [uddles under engine for 3-5 yars...

Have a good luck.. it is unrewa;, ex-my aero still on road, saw today twice...
