Decipher Weight Ratings...HELP
Here are the RV spec's:
1)Length 28'10"
2)Width 8'0"
3)Height 11'11"
4)Hitch Weight 1,200 lbs
5)Dry Weight 6,580 lbs
6)Cargo Weight 1,620 lbs
Will my truck pull this 5th wheel? I have read so many articles I am not sure anymore how to correctly figure this up.
Thanks, RC

thats not a big load at all for these trucks or that engine. 5th wheels pull great compared to tt's. I sometime forget im pulling my 30' Coachmen that weighs in around 9k loaded, until I see it in the mirror. and that was with my 99 f250. havent pull it with the dually yet.
Your good to go, enjoy the camper
Go to www.motorcraftservice.com and click on "owner guides" on the left side of the page. Then pick your truck from the list and look at your diesel supplement. In here you'll find your truck's rated towing capacity.
I just looked it up for you, and your truck has a "Maximum Gross Combined Weight Rating" of 20,000 lbs. Fifth wheel setups aren't subject to the 10,000 lb capacity listed, rather the difference between your empty weight and the 20,000 lb cap.
So figure your truck weighs less than 8,000 lbs, so it's capable of towing at least a12,000 lb 5th wheel trailer.
Then you need to know the pin wt of the 5th wheel. Didn't see you list the RV's "suggested" pin wt. That will be the wt that goes in the bed of the truck and counts against what that axle can stand.
I re-read it..1200 lbs? is that the king pin wt?
