Help NumberDummy:
Merc's used this carb in 1954, Ford's only came with 2V's. I have no Merc parts catalog of this vintage, so I cannot help you.
The only source I know of who might have the parts is North Hollywood Carburetor & Ignition, located on Lankershim Blvd in North Hollywood CA (818-769-0040).
I have a 256 cu in 54 Monterey 2dr HT which had this carb, and listed in my 1954 Mercury Parts Catalogue, the secondary tubes (2) part number is EBY-99554-A
Hope this helps.
Regards
Paul
Ford issued at least two a year. The newer the catalog, the less chance you have of finding older part number updates.
The U-joints were 7039, now they're 4635. Ford replaced the second number of the basic part number that applies to some carb, A/T & P/S parts with a letter.
Instead of 99554 it could be 9A554.
Then there's this: Ford replaces (updates) 10's of 1000's of part numbers every
year!Keeping track of all these number changes is a full time job in itself. You need the apropos O-S-I catalogs to verify part numbers....for everything.
This is the major reason why you cannot go by the part number's prefix to ID what the vehicle/year the part fits.
I see this all the time here on FTE. Someone finds something with, for example, a prefix of E8TZ, thinks the part only fits 1988 trucks. Uh huh...
It might...or it might not. I'd be willing to bet that 'might not' would be the answer.
Look in your Merc catalog for a lug nut, and you'll come up B-1012.
This was later replaced by: B-1012-A, COAZ-1012-A, C9AZ-1012-A, E6DZ-1012-A and E8TZ-1012-B!
Another example (of millions): The part number for the 240/300 exhaust manifold was replaced EIGHT times between 1965 and 1983.
Ford issued at least two a year. The newer the catalog, the less chance you have of finding older part number updates.
Whew! I see the snag Mmmm! I just learn't something now, Thanks for that info, I believe the OSI book I am getting is dated 1957, but as you say a given part number could change later on. "Is this why they say in the USA "Friends should not let Friends Drive Fords?".

Ford's part numbering system is pretty EZ to figure out, but why Ford replaces all those fracatta part numbers is not EZ to figure out.
In fact, it's a royal PITA! And...there's more bad news...
In 1989, Ford changed the package quantity of 10's of 1000's of parts. When the idiots did that, they changed the part numbers SUFFIX!
Most Ford nuts (and FoMoCo parts personnel) in today's world....are totally unaware of this.
When they look for something found in a 1988 or older parts catalog, they may find, for example, an A suffix part listed, but since the number now has a B suffix, guess what happens.
Most Ford nuts have no O-S-I catalogs. Parts personnel usually don't bother looking to see if the number was changed, cuz most of them have ZERO interest in old Ford vehicles, and...
The fact is...they could care less and just want to shine you on.

Finaly someone has said what I have thought for years!
The local ford guys generaly dont want to look for it unless you promise to buy it. If its old they say we cant get that. (When I ordered my fuel tank float last week it was initialy, "We dont go that old".) I asked for a bumper for a vehicle once and the question was "Why would you want to buy a bumper?" This was in 2004 for a 96 F150!
The worst parts people I have ever met are at the three dodge dealearshis I have had to visit in my lifetime.
They will sit and tell you that they never had somthing on a vehicle! You have to tell them that they need to look it up (I have had to get a manager once!) I gave them an actual mopar part # for a vehicle that was only 7 years old and they would not acknowledge that that vehicle used that part. After telling him to look and waiting in the parts department he finaly found it where I told him it would be! Those people have got to be the most lazy and retarded people on earth! The funny thing is the guy sat and argued with his top mechanic whom agreed with me that this thing existed.
I have quit calling my local ford dealer for parts lookups. Unless you give me a number to run I wont call them. I started taking my buisness 60 miles north to Fargos dealer and have had great luck with them. They dont seem offended when you ask them a question and are willing to negotiate a bit on the price.
Not picking on parts guys here. I have met some very helpful friendly people at both ford and chebby dealearships. It is a hard job with a myriad of books and numbers for 100 years of cars and trucks. But finaly to hear it from a pro like you NumberDummy. Thank you.
