Drill a 3/8" hole in the secondary latch and place a cheap pad lock through it. It will also prevent the infamous hood on the windshield at inopportune moment.
I bought a "hood guard" on e-Bay for less than 5 bucks. It's a chain that attaches to the hood with a bolt and a lock/key mechanism that attaches to the core support. Works like a charm for me.

Plus cost five bucks.

Works for me. Purchased a small lock which comes has a molded plastic weather proof cover that remains attached to the lock. Remove cover and insert key.
Ditto on what Garbz said. I have had mine to pop up but I was lucky, no damage. I drilled mine years ago and you can't get into the hood area without the padlock undone. I have thought about getting a chain and bolting it to the frame though so it would be easier to get at. Or I may just try a different lock.

It's a quik fix solution and there are downsides to consider: Year, or type grille; can be difficult to reach, particularly with large hands. On the 65 grille I can reach thru the large upper grille opening with no problem but also don't have large hands. The upside is if the scum-bag burgler has large hands he/she may find it difficult stealing your prize possessions.
Before drilling holes, etc., suggest checking it out first and see how difficult it may be, it's not locking that present a problem but have cursed on more than one occasion trying to open it. This thread has given me a moment to pause and now remember I have a lock with about a 3-4" long arm, have to check and see if any easier unlocking the hood. Hmmm
