glow plug mod

Thinking about doing the glow plug mod,dont think i need it all the time down here in texas,what are the pros and cons,will it hurt anything ,seems like i heard about the glow plugs building up carbon buy not beinging used all the time.

They can swell up and stick in there. Oddly enough I live near the Texas coast and have found that I needed them a few times over the years in that I was parked for long periods outside where I could not plug the crank case heater in.

I would fix it where i could use it in the morning when i might need it.

I've done the mod, it works just fine. I have a momentary contact switch under the dash & I only use it in the mornings when I first crank up.
Turn the key on & hit the switch & she fires right up.

The glow plugs don't really swell as much as become sooted up, this makes them hard to remove. The GP's will do this anyway if you have the mod or not.

the cheaper plugs are the ones that swell.
