Need Advice - Puking Coolant
Recently, while pulling a loaded trailer, my truck puked some coolant form the degas bottle. The truck runs great...no smoke, no hard starts, nothing. I got some VC9, distilled water, and Ford Gold coolant and did a coolant flush. The resulting flush did not show any sand but it did get really dark and then cleared up. I did a flush about a year ago and did get a lot of sand at that time.
I got it all filled back up but then had to leave for work for a week. When I got back we pulled a cattle trailer loaded with cows for several trips. While pulling the trailer the truck puked coolant again. I pulled the EGR valve and cleaned it. It was not very dirty and the crud on it was dry. It did not look asif there was any moisture in the intake, that I could see. I put new o-rings and gasket on the EGR and put it back in. Took it out and drove it and it runs great.
I know that this points to an oil cooler that is plugged or becoming plugged but is there anything else it could be. I am diligent about changin fluids and filters and run Amsoil 5W40 synthetic oil in it. Like I said the truck runs great...other folks that have driven it think so too.
Thanks for any input.
BTW - The truck is a 2004 F350 CC SRW 4x4 with ~122k on the odometer. The only mod I have is 4" turbo back exhaust with no cat and no muffler.
Regards
