Any ideas on this?

Well i have a camper on my truck and i want to put a lock on the tailgate also, but these trucks didn't come with locks on them, and i would like to put on, it doesn't have to be key lock, it could be lock from inside the back, i just want it so no one cam just pull on the tailgate real hard and mess up my camper, so i been thinking of stuff to make like something that can hold the tailgate from getting open from the outside, anyone has ideas?

Thanks

nighthawk

P.S. i hope you guys understand what i mean

just do a handle relocation to the inside of the tailgate......i think you can even get them that "tie" into the power so you can lock/unlock with key fob just like the doors

I have a tailgate lock kinda like this one. I think its made by the same company. I guess they discontinued it and made this one. Mine completely covers the handle.

87 - 96 FORD F150 F250 F350 PICKUP TRUCK TAILGATE LOCK : eBay Motors (item 390161681498 end time Apr-24-10 12:33:48 PDT)

I doubt anyone is going to do that to your tailgate.

May you put a picture of it how it looks thank you

and i just want it for safety since i have a lot of towing and stuff that are pretty helpful for the truck. and they may be able to open the bottom if the top is closed. they already ripped off my speakers from my camper like 3 years ago.

Around here, the thing that gets stolen IS the tailgate.

the PO put a hinged bracket on the edge of the bed and a d-ring bracket on the edge of the tailgate so you can close them and put a padlock through there, I only use it when my camper shell's on, so I don't mind that it's not streamlined like a 'real' setup

If you want to keep someone from stealing your tailgate, put a hose clamp around the passenger side so they can't just lift up on it.
