i am installing a parrot mk6100 hands free blue tooth car kit. If anyone has done this before, i welcome any advice you can give. The main reason i am writing this because i have not seen any obvious way to remove my factory stereo from my 2010 f250. It is just the single disc player, can anyone please tell me how to remove it. Do I need a special tool? Do i need to remove any dash?
Thanks in advance.
If it is like the '07 trucks, you carefully pry the dash cover off. No screws hold it down. Once the dash cover is off you will see the screws for the radio.
If it is different, someone will chime in and call me an idiot. Happens quite a but.
I won't call you an idiot Redford, cuz you have an 07. I think the 2010's are the same as the 2008's though, and I know how to take my dash panel out because someone (scumbags) ripped it out once, and I had to put it back together. On my 2008 XL, there are two small panels (about 3 in. X 3 in. )that have screws behind them. One is near the lighter (or maybe it holds the lighter--not in the truck now) and the other is at the same level on the other side. If you look VERY closely, you will see an indent that you can use a small screwdriver to pry these off. Be careful, becuase they just have plastic tabs that hold them on. Then you have access to two screws. Remove them, and then that whole plastic portion (with the upfitter switches/brake controller/etc.) can be carefully pryed off. It uses those "snap in" dealy-bobs to hold it on. Note there will be all sorts of wires attached to the pnael so be careful. Once it's off, four screws hold the radio in....good luck!!
Exactly as waverunner said...if the 10 is like the 08. My two panel he's referring to had the ash tray/lighter (the one on the left), and the aux jack for the stereo (on the right). Remove the two bolts there (7mm I think), and the rest of the panel is held in by the tab doodads that pop into the dash frame. All the electronics and switches and stuff will pull out far enough to remove the 4 bolts for the radio and allow you to slide it right out. Piece of cake!
i have installed a parrot before, if you are not going to put in a dedicated speaker in the dash for it, i would suggest tying it into the passenger door speaker instead of the drivers, it is much easier to hear. best case scenario is if the car has a front center channel speaker to use. enjoy the unit, I want one of my own, just havent gotten one yet.
