I have decided to paint the inside of the bed of my truck and need some advice on prep. A buddy of mine will spray it, but I have to do all the prep work.
Here are some pictures of the bed.
It has many scratches with rust in them. The rust isn't deep and hasn't eaten through anything. Can you tell me what would be the best way to prep this? Sandpaper grit, best way to remove the rust on the scratches, etc? I will remove the bed bolts before he sprays it also. Any info would be appreciated.
Unless you're really wanting a show room paint job, I'd sand it with 80grit, use a rust converter and or encapsulator on the rusted spots and shoot it. Eastwood sells some good stuff as do others. If your looking for a higher quality, take it on down with finer grit paper. The important thing is to kill the rust or it's just going to come right back.
