D44/D50 differences

Hey all, just wondering what I would need to turn my 44ttb to a D50 while I look for a D60 to swap under my 84 F-250. Is it just spindles & hubs, or stub shafts, too? Or is there a lot more than that? Donor vehicle is a 94 F-250.

Complete swap...

I don't believe anything is interchangeable between the 44 & 50.
There is a few parts interchangeable between the 50 & 60.

From what I have read, it is not worth the swap. That being said, I have never done one, but the axles taper down to the Dana 44 size.

It's my understanding that the tiny u-joints on the D44 are the weak link in those diffs. The 50's got the big joint. If you're considering going with a 60, skip the 50 install but buy it if you need parts (rotors, calipers, hubs). I got one from a bord member for $50.

I wouldn't waste my time going from a 44 to a 50 ...

They have the same basic design issue, the 44 is just weaker!

Yea, that's what I'm thinkin. Thanks for the input, guys, much appreciated! Btw, how "late" did ford use "kingpin" 60's before switching to ball joints? And why exactly does a later model 60 have a trac bar but a 70's truck doesn't, is it THAT neccessary, or just some overkill from the suits?
