2006 F250 4x4 supercab, 5.4 32K miles. I had both ball joints on the left side replaced by the dealer. The service code on the receipt is 3049AB and 3050AB. Looking at Fords labor rates online 3049AB, shows for three ball joints at 4.2 hours. The time for Both on one side is 2.2 hours. My question is, did they hose me for two hours labor, or are the labor times I came upon accurate or not? It's a Ford site,fordtechservice.dealerconnection. I could not locate the other service code,3050AB. Thanks in advance
Those are warranty labor op codes. Did you pay for the repairs or were the repairs done under warranty ? If you did not pay for the repairs how could they hose you. They may have hosed uncle Henry but not you. If you paid for the repairs most dealers mark up warranty time or use chilton or motor time which is much higher than warranty. So you probably didn't get hosed that bad if you paid for the repair.
I paid for the repairs, truck is out of warranty. The reason I was concerned is cause the book time is half as many hours as I paid in labor, and the code for the work they did is for three ball joints, and I only had the two on one side done. I'll be talking with them tomorrow as there are other issues concerning their owners advantage program. Thanks
I still think you got a pretty good deal. Chilton time is 5.1 hrs not including an alignment. Like I said in my last post, those were warranty times. I don't know of any Dealer that charges warranty time on customer pay repairs. You still paid lees than Chilton time.
