I cut and prepped the areas for the welds, but do you guys usually prep for paint after all the welding is complete or prep just the hard to get to places on the pieces? That is removing surface rust and so on.
Does any of the 3M stripping wheels work - or should I say worth spending the money. I need something to prep the steel for painting that will remove rust quickly.
I also need to prep two old golf cart wheels for painting.
I agree that bumper has better lines than many of those 2000.00 bumpers you see for sale from the aftermarket suppliers.
What are you going to use as a finish coat?
Thanks guys, i appreciate the compliments, you know< I built this thing one saturday at work and I kind of just did what I like to call "freestyle" fabbed it up. I didnt really have a plan I just took off the stocker and starting templeting to the truck. I was originally going to run into the office and CAD it up on Solidworks but decided against it just because I was too lazy........ Anyway, I am pleased with the way it came out and I am still tossing around the finish coat ideas, but I am really leaning towards painting it the color of the truck, one, because a lot of people dont do that and I like to be different, and two, because I have some of the paint left. The other thought was to have it powdercoated black or silver......
i dig the bumper, but i think black would look good with your green, and i feel if you color matched the bumper it would look kinda weird and would take away from the cool design, but that's just my opinion, it's your truck
i just don't dig the silver. too california jeep crap for my taste, like all the magazine trucks. i'm not too into the whole blackout thing either, but chances are bumpers are gonna get bashed and scraped and black paint is easier to touch up than silver powdercoat
