Unhappy Another Question About Oil

I run Rotella 15w-40. it is my DD so no pulling, how long between oil changes? the book says around 7k, is that to long?

Maybe it's possible. Your oil might shear down too low before that though.
Try doing an OA at 6k to know for sure.

My OCI is 5k. Last OA was at the lower end of the range on viscosity. Blackstone says to try taking it to 6k, but I prefer not to.

I change my oil using 15w-40 every 5,000 miles. I use my speedometer to know when to change my oil. When I hit 135,000 miles, it will be time to change my oil again.

oil test for my delo400 say 12k is a good ## and could go more ... i change it at 8k

im right a 6k, got on me before i know it, will change. i have ax excel sheet with all of my recodes to keep me on it.

That's impressive. I use Delo 400 as well. Do you have a bypass system? What does it show for viscosity at 8k?

I use Rotella 15w40 and Blackstone told me I could go for 8-9k oci.

no bypass 72.8 @ 8k miles it takes a good 1500 miles before the oil starts to darken....

I do mine kind of like Rick, except I only change my oil when my speedometer says 0.

I change mine every 5,000 based on the odometer readings. Next up is 330,000

LOL Rick must have had too many miller lights today..or he has one very fast truck..

i probably do it to much but i use rotela 15 40 ad i change my oil and air filter every three thousand miles

Seems a bit excessive to me. I run Rotella Syn 7-8k, and my 6637 gets changed around 12-15k. I now have a 6.0L air filter ***'y coming, so we'll see how that one works out.
