Locking Gas Cap

Anybody have any luck finding a locking Gas Cap for our trucks that resembles the original large chrome one?

All I find is the small push on, with the exposed weather gasket..Looks like poop.

I also don't trust the seal.

Thanks,
Greg

I have a large chrome one for my 85 which is the same style cap.
Gates makes it. The onlything is the keyhole is exposed so it may freeze up in the winter.

What Ford truck of this vintage came with a chromed fuel cap as original?

N-O-N-E = NONE! All were painted body color as original (1948 thru 1979).

The chrome cap is either an aftermarket, or a FoMoCo Service Part Replacement (B6TZ9030A) which is 2 1/2" in diameter.

If the "large" chrome fuel cap you have is larger than 2 1/2" it's from a 1960's Ford passenger car or station wagon, like one from a 1960/63 Falcon or 1962/63 Fairlane.

The locking fuel cap you are describing is the same as Ford used: C4RZ9030C .. Locking Fuel Cap (Motorcraft FC91) / Obsolete

I had one of these caps on my truck for 44 years.

The vented fuel cap is the same 1948/69. The in-cab tank's fuel cap may be the same thru 1977, if the truck (beginning in 1970) does not have the Evaporative Emission system.

Anything else used thru 1979 is not correct, most are non vented. 1980 and later fuel caps are not the same.

It fits is all I know. I had to buy them after we had a bout of some mexicans robbing our neigborhood homes and vehicles. Our fine police force of course, has done nothing and never will.

Why? Because Wahpeton PD is incapable of doing anything other than busting 16 year olds for drinking, and issuing speeding/exhaust tickets to college kids.

If you have a 1980's fuel cap on your truck, be aware these caps are NOT vented.

What will happen...the tank will build up pressure (the tank vents thru the fuel cap) and it could either collapse, split open or the pressure will cause the in-cab's neoprene filler hose to burst.

Not pleasant!
