8.8 Rear end
Ok I will try to be brief- Was doing wheel bearings and seals on a sterling 8.8 Rear end. The pin u take out to get to the spiders was galled up pretty good- This began the search for the pin and spiders. Turns out there are two differnt carriers for this rear end- car application and truck appliction. I have 31 spline axles with a carrier out of a car w/ a 5/8" pin. A guy with a diff shop says he will sell me a 7/8" pin and spider set and will bolt my ring gear to the truck carrier. He says it will bolt right in no prob-- Dont you have to shim these things and check for backlash? Any info is appreciated. Thank you all for the help--Jim

Thanks, gears installed today backlash was 15 thou pinoin depth off a little will take to the guys who sold me the spiders- they said if the paint was off they would set my depth for me no prob again thanks---Jim
