Did the mod, cleaned the boots and flushed out the IC w/simple green solution. Also, welded a tube onto the exhaust pipe so that the gasses exit thru the tail pipe. Result: truck smokes a bit more out of the tail pipe and my boots still get dirty. I have to believe that it does some good even if only giving more cool air to the engine but I think you would need to be really **** and dyno you truck before and after to really know.

While doing mine, i wondered if i welded a 5/8 barbed fitting to my exhaust pipe and let the CCV vent in there would be beneficial or not, the hot exhaust should blend with the oil blow off and exit with the regular soot...no harm, no foul...IMHO

Good question...Guzzle did a manometer test on his CCV mod (pre and post mod) and had an increase flow of .25 ML while venting into the atmosphere. There may be an answer to that on his website.

i would think if it was welded at an angle farther back it should actually create a siphon effect

I've seen ccvs hooked up like this on gassers for a demo car supposedly it helps create more vacuum wich helps not blow rings seals an stuff but there running it from each valve cover to about mid way on the stacks coming up threw the hood

I have done it as well but I have to smog mine next month so I am pretty sure I will need to put it back to stock as the smoke from it at idle would probably fail me.

I do have a question though. My hose has oily residue and almost feels like it is failing. Do others have this problem and if so do you have to change the hose out.

Its too soon for me to answer that question, But what state do you live in that requires smog. I live in NV and have to smog my truck every year. BTW add you name to your sig, we are all family here, and welcome to FTE.

What size pipe and how long of pipe do you use for the catch can and what size barbed fittings do you use. Thanks in advance.

Pieces include: (1) - 3" long piece of steel tubing 4" Dia., (1) - 5" black PVC tubing, (1) - 3" black PVC cap end, (1) - 3" black PVC screw cap end, (2) - 3" metal clamps, 18 feet of 3/4" heater hose, (2) - straight 3/4" PVC fittings, (1) - 90 degree 3/4" PVC fitting, (1) - radiator petcock, Bag of four metal pot scrubbers, (5) - metal hose clamps, (2) straight 3/4" barbed fittings installed onto filter body. I used a 1" paddle drill bit to drill holes for barbed fittings. Filter body is the 5" section of 3" dia. black PVC tube.

Do you think there would be an issue if you made the trap out of 2" pvc pipe instead of the larger size? I have a tone of 2" from a home project and that would reduce my cost a bit.

I dont think it will be an issue - 2" or 3" dia. PVC. The 3" just allows for a little more volume for the trap to grab the oil vapors and the pot scrubbers fit nice and neat.
