#3 injector took a dump, blew tip off. Been running fine ever since. Came in yesterday as no start, Checked for power at pump, none, dis-connected pump to check connecter, spun engine and it starts and runs. What gives? With pump connected engine starts and dies, with pump disconnected engine cranks and runs.

Well, here is my SWAG.
I believe the pump will run for about 30 seconds with the KO/EO the shut off. There must be a relay the times the run time. When you turn the key on you are providing constant power to the pump probably through the same relay. The pump has 3 connectors. Are you sure you diconnected and checked the power connector? Or did you check the WIF or heater connector? Check the wiring diagram if you have one. If not, check the manual for a fuel pump relay and swap with a similar relay.
These engines don't actually need a lot of fuel pressure to run. Obviously they run poorly with no pressure, but they will run IF and only IF the fuel system is completely free of air from the pump to the injectors. They will usually start and idle, but thats about it. Most diesels will run like this under these conditions, or worse even. (Cummins 24V 5.9 non-common rail, International 466)
