I have to drive a van, there is no option, so making it as I want is a must, so if I ever have the funds and ability, I'll get an engine to drop in it, but there are many upgrades that work without opening it up.
Nothing can change the fact that you got the truck version of the 5.4 motor, which is intended to put out less power, but more reliable.
If you are after performance, you got the wrong vehicle.
But -- if you are into burning money...
Swap a pair of heads from a 5.4 F series that have more valves, flows better is a start.
But by the time you start doing that, you would have gone a fair way to just buying a new truck equipped as you want it.
Quite frankly, if you are wanting performance, you bought the wrong truck.
Having no faith whatsoever in a v6 Turbo of the Transit, this Ford Van Guy will continue to look for ways to extend the life of my 2008 E350 Super Duty. Hovering around 262K miles and praying it outlives me. I being 72, it's a race to the finish line. Contemplating options to give me more power to tow a 30 foot travel trailer. Chipmycar is all I've done so far.
