I found a piece from a bearing in the bottom of my tranny when I was cleaning it out. pictures are below.
I checked these bearings and they seem to have been replaced recently.
This is the only one I didn't know how to get to.
I just want to know where that bearing piece came from are there any more bearings in this tranny? I just don't want to install the tranny and have it crap on me in a month or 2. I couldn't even find a bearing that was the same size as the piece I found. Where did it come from?
I found 4 I think and yes it was in the truck and drivable 2 months ago. I live in central Illinois and he delivered it to me from Chicago with no problem. I had to replace the ring gear on the flywheel but I figured while I was there I would resurface the flywheel and install a new clutch. Then I decided to hot tank the bell housing and paint it. Well I started cleaning the trans before paint and found those bearing pieces. I did notice the clutch was less than a year old and all the bolts were easy to remove. I was hoping that the pieces were from an original bearing that has been replaced. As I said I didn't look at the one bearing I didn't know how to get to and I don't know if there are any bearings on the gears. If there are bearings under the gears then it might be my fault. I pulled 1/5 of the shaft out of the trans when I was pulling the transfer case (I didn't know there was a nut holding the trans shaft to the t-case) I might have lost the bearing pieces then?
I am going to install the transmission this weekend and I would love some input before I do. I REALLY don't want to pull the trans again. Does anyone know if there are more than 4 bearings in this trans?
