need help---oil problem

I just got a 2002 E-250 cargo van---4.2 L. V6. The threaded plastic ABS end of the oil filler tube is very loose. These threads are not stripped---they are smaller than the valve cover thread. Is there a grommet or something missing from the valve cover? Local parts stores can't help, and I can't find any info. online. Thanks, Jeff

im not sure i picture what your doing, but how about putting an RTV bead on the threads, screwing it in, and letting it setup overnight?
