So after 6 months of searching, I finally found it.
1984 F150 4X4 4 speed 300 I6.
bought it from an 80 year old farmer a few miles away from me.
One of the front hubs was broken (**** broke off) so he threw in a set of Mile Marker hubs, which I already put on.
There was also a horrendous exhaust leak from the tube that goes from the EGR plate to the AIR pump, it was rusted in two, so I took that off and stuck a 3/4-14 pipe plug in there. No help.
Turns out the exhaust manifold gasket is GONE. may as well be non existent. ok, it's only a $10 - $15 part, but it's a pretty big job. that'll be next.
While I was taking the carburetor off to make room to get to the pipe fitting, I noticed that the fuel line doesn't go to a mechanical fuel pump on the side of the block...darn, I was hoping to avoid that in-tank pump crap.
Oh Well.
Then I have GOT to eliminate this EEC-IV garbage and go Duraspark...maybe that HEI route, not sure yet.
Was going to post some pictures, but it says I can't post attatchments...sorry.
I did a search, but didn't get anything. Maybe I'm not searching for the right phrase or something.
I've read about changing the intake/exhaust manifold bolts out for studs.
Can someone tell me what size studs to get?
Also, I've been reading about needing Chevy "football" washers, but can't really tell from what I've read if they're only needed if one is using an aftermarket intake or exhaust manifold.
Since I am going back with the stock manifolds, and simply replacing the gaskets, do I need these special washers?
Lastly, I REALLY want to ditch this TFI system and computer.
I'd like to go Duraspark II so I could stay all Ford, but have read about the benefits of going with the GM HEI module. Is this actually the better way to go? Seems like sort of a hack job to me.

You got that right, it IS a "hack job." Stay all Ford!
Seriously though, the GM HEI module is not an improvement over the Motorcraft Duraspark.
