Automatic Hubs

I have searche the forum but just can't seem to find the answer. I have a 01 F250 XLT 6.8L 4x4 that one of the auto hubs has slipped an O ring between the locker and the outer wall. As a result I had to use channel locks to turn it in and broke the plastic selector. To buy a new hub from ford is 250 bucks. I have a chance to buy a used automatic from a 05 F350. Will this automatic hub fit my truck? The only other alternative is to buy a set of Warn hubs for 210 bucks but then I lose my automatic feature. Any help is appreciated.

The '05 and up hubs are different, so no, no can do.

You MIGHT be able to disassemble the hub and find an o-ring that fits. It's what I would do

Me, I put in a set of Warns and thank GOD every time I lock them manually and KNOW they are going to work.

Thanks, thats what I thought but wanted to be sure. I think the 05 and up use a 35 spline and the 04 and down use a 30 spline. Just wanted a second opinion. Probably will go with a set or Warns.

Do the two different hub bodies look alike?

If just the spline count has changed, maybe you can swap the interior gear ring from the '05 into the '01...

My '03 has the auto/manual type. In know the first time they ever give me fits I am going to Warn manuals.

If you look at the hubs, the '05-up have three allen-head screws holding the hub cover in place and whatever else going on to hold them in.

The pre-2005 do not, they are held in with a snap-ring.

Different enough I wouldn't even think they are close.
