I just put in 2 new power door lock switches (OEM Ford part). The passenger side works correctly but the driver side is backwards. Lock unlocks the doors and unlock locks the doors? When I got the parts there was only 1 part number for either side.
Any idea what is going on? The switch that was in there works correctly. I simply was replacing them for aesthetic reasons.
They are the same switch but are positioned mirroring each other. There should be a tab so you can't insert them backwards.
Thanks for the replies. With further research, it appears that the 1995 f series without keyfob has a reverse polarity switch on the drivers side. When comparing the oem switch with the replacement, they are mirror images of eachother. The origional switch has a red botom. It is indeed a separate part. I put the old one back in until I can find a better condition oem switch that is the same.
I was going to just reverse the wires but I am so use to hitting lock towards the door. If I reversed the wires, the U and L lettering would be correct but lock would be on the wrong side.
It turns out the swich WAS working correctly but the switch I put in was not labeled for the drivers side.
I like NPD and LMC, because alot of their parts are genuine Ford parts.
LMC lists it as 1 part (2 required). That is where I got these. They are Ford parts. I would like to stick with ford parts. The window switches I got from LMC are tiawanese knock offs of inferior quality and don't exactly match.
