Power Door Lock?

Greetings,

I just put in 2 new power door lock switches (OEM Ford part). The passenger side works correctly but the driver side is backwards. Lock unlocks the doors and unlock locks the doors? When I got the parts there was only 1 part number for either side.

Any idea what is going on? The switch that was in there works correctly. I simply was replacing them for aesthetic reasons.

Thanks!

Keith

Try reversing the wires. I know that sounds simple, but sometimes things like that work backwards...hope it's a simple fix.

They are the same switch but are positioned mirroring each other. There should be a tab so you can't insert them backwards.

Thanks for the replies. With further research, it appears that the 1995 f series without keyfob has a reverse polarity switch on the drivers side. When comparing the oem switch with the replacement, they are mirror images of eachother. The origional switch has a red botom. It is indeed a separate part. I put the old one back in until I can find a better condition oem switch that is the same.

I was going to just reverse the wires but I am so use to hitting lock towards the door. If I reversed the wires, the U and L lettering would be correct but lock would be on the wrong side.

It turns out the swich WAS working correctly but the switch I put in was not labeled for the drivers side.

Thanks again.

When I was installing my alarm and connecting it to the power door locks, I figured that out too about the reverse polarity.

I don't think I would switch any wires just yet.

I said they mirror each other, but the U and L would be upside down on one if the switch was inverted, so I think there is a L and R specific switch.

I would like to know why everywhere I looked only lists one switch for both sides.

Does the switch you have say what side its for?

they are clearly 2 different switches. The U and L are opposite on the drivers side and the bottom when I pop the switch out is red.

I also was wondering why everyplace only lists the 1 part for both sides.

These are OEM parts too. LMC had them.

Does LMC list both.

I like NPD and LMC, because alot of their parts are genuine Ford parts.

LMC lists it as 1 part (2 required). That is where I got these. They are Ford parts. I would like to stick with ford parts. The window switches I got from LMC are tiawanese knock offs of inferior quality and don't exactly match.

I got my window switches at Orielly and they are tiawanese as well. They were inexpensive and have a LT warranty though.
