Having a 2WD 95 F150, small v8, auto w/OD and i have been experiencing shuttering of sorts especially when going up hill and more prevelent when towing. I am told this is the torqe converter slipping. This will require a complete rebuild for big bucks, or perhaps the repair shop can simply unplug it and stop it from functioning. Is this true? Wouldn't i need it to function? What if keep driving it? Should i look for a junk yard trans and simply replace it? this is a great work and play truck but is it worth sinking the money into the trans.
Mine did the same thing at about 80,000 miles. It turned out to be the lockup clutch in the convertor. Worst case, replace the convertor, but I have heard that this was a common prob in trucks and mustangs. I also remeber reading somwhere that if you flush the system and add some additive, it will fix the prob. I can't remember what the additive was but I will do some searching and get back with ya. Somone else may know what it is. Hippie.
Had the same problem....I pulled the tranny pan and found that the filter had fallen into the pan....lots of trash...flushed the transmission, added some LUCAS additive and bolted up.I have no more slippage.Check it out.
I had the same problem, I paid 1520.00 to get it rebuilt
and to have a shift kit added and I still hate it. I reprogramed
the speedometer for my size of tires, I have done everything
I got $10,000 in a five thousand dollar truck. Abandon ship
before you get in to deep.
Had the same problem on my truck. I drained the transmission and the torque converter and replaced the filter. I added some Mercon V transmission fluid, and i havn't felt a shudder yet and its been almost 3 months.
