I have an e99 pds cc 4x4 lb drw and need to fine a good manual for this truck. I have a parking brake problem. They don't work. Even on a slight ange it dosen't hold the trucks weight. I also need to know where to buy the shoes and how to go about it. The pedal is firm, it just don't hold the weight at all.
Thank You, chet
Two things. Helm Inc makes the Ford shop manuals. They are a bit pricey but they are the best!
Second, have you checked you parking brake cables? There is a small adjuster that you can play with similar to the drum brake adjusters. Since you say the pedal is firm, I would say you may have a bas axle seal and they have been leaked on...
That should help if you tackle the job yourself. You will need new hub seals anyway.
EDIT. You have a Dana 80 axle, not the 10.25". The procedure is similar but not the same. If you go to helminc. com, search around for the shop manual, you can actually get a 72hr subscription for $12 last time I checked. Full access to the shop manual too...
Guys thank you, this information is great. It dosen't look as hard as I thought it would be. I have neck cancer and haven't work on vehicles in years. I use to build motors, mostly chev's , sorry in the 60's, I am a ford man now and hope to get up the energy to do this project soon. I hate to have all the weight against my new john woods trans. God bless, Chet
