Yep, up here we have to go through the same process when we go into the dmv to transfer, they already have a price that they think the truck is worth in fair market value. If you dont meet that then they wont process the transfer and you have to get a quote from a shop that when you add what you bought the truck for and what the repair costs are, it needs to be within 2k of the dmv's fair market value.
in mass once the truck is paid for you have the title in hand.
his truck was paid for so when i gave him the 2K he signs it over to me then the deal is done.
this is too funny I just bought a '99 powerstroke today! it is only 2 wheel drive but I paid a LOT less than you! bed comes off and my service body goes on, than the '89 goes away.
question-its a six speed and just wondering if this is normal.
when shifting it seems kinda hard to put it gear unless i push the clutch in all the way. is this normal? if not what might it be?
yeah, in PA were i grew up you had to send the title to the state capitol and it was like a month to get it back. plus they check to see how much you payed for it. if its under NADA the seller has to list the reason(s) he/she sold it for that price and then the state has to agree with the reason or they ssend the title back to the seller. its a load of crap if you ask me
I bought my '97 cc almost 3 years ago in Phillidelphia. I flew in, the owner picked me up at the airport, I handed him a $10k bank check, we drove to the title bureau, he signed the title over to me and I drove it home, took all of 10 minutes at the bureau. That's pretty much how it works here in OH, too.

I bought my 96 for 2k. Here in Texas when you transfer the title you go to the county tax office with the old title signed. Then they look your vehicle up in the computer to see what it is worth and tax you based on that. They tried to tax me on $8000 even though I only paid 2k. Had to go to a dealership and get them to "assess" it. Good thing my dad is a general manager at a dealership... lol

I'm not sure on that... just drive it down here to my house and I'll look at it. You can just take my truck back with ya!
Sorry, I just really want 4x4 and a Manual trans...
