AIRDOG II

Hi everyone,
Well I have been researching this for a few days now. it seems that half the people say its was a breeze to install; the other half say it was hard, or had problems. but I also have not read anything recent or up to date. so my question is this, how is the install? Has pureflow updated the kit at all? I am bone stock, but would like to get the airdog because of the quality of fuel up in cordova alaska is JUNK! so anything to help with better filtering and better injector life I want!!!!

I installed the FASS system, which is pretty close to the AirDog setup. Two things, allow yourself plenty of time, if it says 6 hrs and your new at this, give yourself 10. Take your time.

Also, based on my experience with the FASS, make sure you plug up that old return line. It's not a pleasant experience if it isn't plugged. Don't ask me how or why I know this, just take my word for it.

Lastly, I know with the FASS you have to do this, but make sure you get the 60 psi spring as well.

If you are also looking for mods to help with injector life, I would look into ITP's Fuel Regulated Return kit as well.

COOL thanks
I have been reading about the Airdog II and it seems that you can only get the adj. pressure model for the 6.0. What pressure should it be at for a stock engine?

I am most definitely going to look at the ITP kit. any links by any chance?

You don't want to see less then 45 PSI with the 6.0. I would get it up to 60 PSI and try to keep that pressure.

I would also advocate getting an in-cab fuel psi gauge. The RR kit does come with one, however, that is mounted on the regulator itself and you won't be able to see it unless the hood is up, not good for driving down the road. I would just plug in an electric sendor in the port that ITP's gauge would go in and mount the gauge some where in the cab, I have mine on the steering column.

Being able to spot fluctuations in Fuel PSI is a handy thing to be able to do to ward off fuel issue that could be delevoping.

Do you like your FASS system? I read that there is a lot of cutting of stock lines and what not.

I like my FASS system. Some people don't like them. I will tell you this, you can have a hard time configuring the RR kit to work in tandem with the FASS(I knock the RR kit to 58PSI and that seems to work). I don't know if AirDog users have more luck. That is the only issue that I've really heard about with regard to the FASS.

The AD2 kit requires NO line cutting to install it compared to the old FASS kit, unless FASS has changed it. You can hook it up directly to the fuel tank and all fuel lines, whereas with the FASS you have to do a lot of cutting. Mounting the pump is 100% easier also. Wiring is about the same with either kit, but I didn't really use anything from either. I made my own wiring harness so that the pump would turn on and off by key and time out just like the factory pump does.
