4 ways stop working after a while

4 ways stop working after a while . Yesterday I was driving down the highway in a funeral procession with 4 ways on and they quit blinking. I shut them off and turned them back on and they worked for a minute or two and stopped. I was wondering where the flasher was, and is there a heavy duty one for my 2004 6.0 Excursion.
Only other time I noticed it stopping was when I had the trailer behind.

Thanks

The flasher is integrated into the Lighting Control Module on newer cars and trucks. And to replace the LCM is anywhere from $400 to $600. And finding somebody to serve a LCM is worse than trying to make ice water in Hades. In other words, Happy Hunting!

I just finished tracing a similar problem where my turn signals worked off and on whenever they wanted to. Found the ground off the turn signal was never fastened in tight at the time the vehicle was manufactured. It was in place, but not snapped in good. Seems viabration and/or movement allowed the wire to ground part time.
