2.5 Oil Gauge Problem
Hi... I have an very intermittent oil gauge. After start up, when it decides not to work, the engine is quiet and I have determined that I do have proper oil pressure. I have tried to locate the pressure sensor or relay in the Haynes manual, but cannot locate it in the wiring diagram or schematic. Anybody familiar where the pressure sensor is located on the engine. I would like to inspect for a loose connection to the sensor or if the sensor itself is going bad. Is there a relay in series with the oil gauge?

Find the oil filter on the drivers side. Look further up, directly above the filter, and you'll see a switch screwed into the block. It will usually be made of metal and bakelite[I think], with a wire pushed onto a threaded shaft. The wire usually has a right-angle push on connector. If the wire is loose, you can improve its friction fit with the sender by crimping the connector slightly with pliers. Generally there will be an 'incomplete circle' of metal that forms the inner connector. Close the gap between the ends of the circle slightly to make the connector stay on better.
