I need some help with the Mach audio system. My rear subwoofer does not work. It just cuts in and out...but no static. Could this be a loose wire? How do I take the cover off to get to the speaker? Ford quoted me 400 to replace just the subwoofer and that seems ridiculous! Can someone shed some light on this?
here we go. I had to replace my blown one the other month, what a pain! Its not as easy as pulling a cover off and replacing. My speaker was blown, but amp worked OK. You have to take off the WHOLE panel. I took the jack cover off, and then pretty much finessed/yanked the whole rear panel off, unscrewed at bottom. You will see the amp and sub. You then have to unscrew whole assembly/amp and woofer, the woofer is attached with a bolt thru the rear of the magnet, so it is attached to black plastic housing and you cant just uncrew it in the front and slide it out. Finally, I went to Pawn shop and bought a Bazooka tube for $29 that was in good condition, which fit perfectly (I think 8"). Good luck, kind of a biatch, but costs $29, not 400 and sounds GREAT!
I have heard people replace the OEM woofer with a after market woofer with good results. Don't pay $400, its a rip off. The actual cost of the woofer is like $25
