trans change compatablity

Hello,I have a 94 F250 with 5.8l 4x4.The E4OD trans is shot. I can get a 91 F250 5.8l 4x4 trans for it that has been rebuilt with low miles. Will this trans work? It is my understanding that if it was behind a 351 it would be a E4OD.Thanks for your help.I tried to search for an answer but gave up after about 500 posts that never answered my question.

It should bolt right up but not sure if there will be computer compatability issues (as I don't know about the electronics on 1991+ Fords). One of my 88's is a C6 Tranny so it could be likely that the rebuild is a C6 also. It will bolt right up though and fit in the E40D's place. I'm sure someone else will chime in on the electronic side...

It is likely to be an E4OD but as nstueve says it could be a C6.

if the tranny has a pan on the bottom or looks like the pic/pics below... it's a C6!

If it'll sit flat on a bench, it's the C6, if it won't, it's the E4OD.
