c'mon, guys - please PLEASE - tell me this whole "thread" is a joke ? If this is the limit of a typical modern American's analysis of mechanical issues, well......
Hmmmm....

he started out with "I changed tires and handling is worse" and the thread title is "new tires - bad handling'
inferring that he didn't have bad handling before...

I'LL CAPITALIZE TOO...

AND SINCE i JUST DID THE SAME THING LESS THAN 5K MILES AGO....

IN MOST DEBUGGING I USUALLY INSTRUCT MY TEAM TO FIRST LOOK AT THE LAST THING CHANGED.
first question after identifying the issue is "When did it work last? and then What changed since it worked last"
Most of us are trying to help....

No this thread is not a joke, and I appreciate those that are trying to help. I adjusted the steering gear a full turn and the steering is tighter, but the wandering is still there. After driving more the tires definately catch every groove in the road and want to follow it causing a lot of steering correction, the old tires didnt do that. I have tried checking the ball joints with the front end up and I don't notice any play, but I am going to replace them anyway based on some others responses (which I wouldnt have got if I hadnt ask so not such a stupid post after all). I am also taking it back to get the alignment rechecked. I'm still leaning towards the tires being a contributor, especially since someone posted they had this issue with the same set of tires. I think this is a combination of things, some of which were masked by the softer sidewall tires somehow. I'm going to replace the ball joints, install the roadmaster system I have in my garage, and give the tires a while to wear in as jdadamsjr suggested. Hope things get better eventually.

Sounds like a combo of things but don't replace your bj's unless they have at least 80k miles on them. You should really see them move (with the 2x4) if they are bad. Check your steering stabilizer too. I think everybody worrys about caster too much. It should be good if nothing is bent but they will be glad to sell adjusters to you. You were probably a little spoiled with those cushy C's.

The front end felt like it was on ice is the best way I can describe it. I inflated to 58 psi when I got home and it felt a litle better, but still worse then with the old tires. I had an alignment done two moths ago and the tie rods ends were replace a year ago, so that should eliminate those. Could it just be the tires or should I start looking for a problem. I changed tires to a higher load range to feel safer but the oppsite happened, I dont like the feel of driving it now. Above 40 mph the front ends wanders, I can't drive a straight line, and it feels like its sliding before it turns. Just a weird feeling, anyone experienced anything like this before.
I run 70 PSI front and 80 PSI rear. Check your front end ball joints and tighten your steering box if necessary! I installed a dual steering stabilizers on mine and it really diminished the steering input that I had to use to keep it straight!

Installed the roadmaster active susp yesterday and the difference is unbelievable. It claims it doesnt effect the ride but it did, but in a positive way. The stock rear spring are really soft, and combined with newer front springs with the lift kit was a bad mix apparently. The tire still follow tracks but the truck fells a lot more responsive when turning and doesnt move around as much when driving. Still weird that the problem was worse with new tires.

On occation I get under the tuck and have someone turn the sterring wheel slow from 12 to 4 back to 12 then to 8 and so back and forth and look around you will see things move
( Do this with the parking on and tires blocked !!! )
I have found a lose pitman arm, tie rod connecter, bad tie rod ends ...

Easy to say if your truck didn't come with 1.5 degree caster from the factory... bumping it up to 3.5-4 degrees made a world of difference for me.... hence my advice.
