alternator problem

1995 f350 cc 5spd
When i start the truck the charge gauge stays at about 1/4 of the ways up,alternator not charging with volt meter, after about 30 seconds or so the meter jumps up and the alternator is charging again. This happens everytime i shut the mator off,do you think this could be the built in regulator problem,or maybe bad connection or alternator just on its way out.
Thanks Jim

When the gauge is showing low voltage ,the Glow Plugs are on ..

On time is determined by EOT..

It's normal, don't worry about it. When the EOT gets to 130* or above the GPR will stop cycling on start up.
