Congrats Brandon -Good to hear you're on your original stock trans w no problems -Do you tow a lot?
At least 150K was done towing something. This truck and I racked up 40K in 6 months towing FEMA campers after hurricanes Katrina, and Rita. It also tows my 11.5K 5er on the weekends, my buddies race car trailer, competition BBQ grill, boat, tractors, etc....

Delo is all that I have ever used, and all that I will use in the future.
Thanks for the Delo tip, makes me feel better since I am using it also. I must say your stock trans has held up well, hope mine will too. How often are you changing the fluid/filter and what type of fluid are you using?
Brandon, you have 300+ on a "STOCK" trans.?...Wow,I only like about 300 miles to hit the 200 club.
Yep completly stock, except mine was one of the ORANGE tagged trannies. Between 99 and 00 ford engineers released some orange tagged trannies that were test mules for the R&D department. It is stamped " Do Not Repair, return to Ford" If the tranny went out you got a new one. Mark Kovalsky, our resident retired tranny engineer has told me that the program ended in 2005, and FOMOCO is no longer replacing the orange tagged trannies since the 4R100 is no longer used in Super Duties. The torque converter rattles, but its still getting the job done.

Bill, I have my pan dropped, and the pickup foot and screens changed once a year. (about every 30K) I use a local tranny shop, and they use a Mercon V rated tranny fluid. I think it is Valvoline Maxx Life. While they are under there I have both differentials and the transfer case serviced.

This my friend, is the single reason that your truck is still as reliable as it is.
Ignore the service intervals and you will end up on the side of the road someday.
So far I have been doing my 4R100 service every 30,000 miles with the Mercon V and new filter at a family owned transmision shop. Hopefully, this will keep my transmission going strong like yours. I have 86000 and change on my truck and I will be getting the trans service front/rear diff at the same time also in the near future.
