I cant seem to get my cold start high idle thing to kick in. Ive tried holding my foot down halfway in the morning to no avail. It still fires up right away, but it rattles and smokes for a min or so. Is there something dumb im missing?
You should have power to all three connectors on the IP, fuel shut off, fast idle and timing advance solenoid.
If you have power to the fuel shut off solenoid, but not to the timing advance or fast idle, the first place I would look is the temp switch down beside the thermostat housing under the alternator.
When you work on the engine, return lines or glow plugs it is easy to pull that connector off and not know it.
