I have just over 60k on the truck now. Its had a tuner on it most of its life. I started its life out kinda rough with a Banks Six Gun with PDA, thats before I did my homework on this site...shame on me there was no excuse as I have been around here for quite sometime.

I have had the SCT on it with tunes from Innovative now for around 15k. Its been good, at about 55k the FICM went out, shortly after I replaced my batteries, I had #1 injector fail at 45k or so, and just now at 60k the oil/egr coolers have been replaced. I guess its been comming for a while cause it was smoking a bit and I didnt have time to get it in, shes all good now though.

I will be installing the DashDaq in a few days or so, whenever I figure out where I want it.

I really cant complain about my truck its been very very good to me. I had an 04 problem child that was bone stock other than a cat back exhaust, so I was a little hesitant when I bought this truck but I jumped back in head first.

I probly drive my truck a little differently than most with tuners, basically I drive like it wasnt tuned, but the EGT temp decrease and fuel mileage gain is a plus for me. I dont stomp on it everytime I leave a stop, I dont treat it like its a race car, and I dont run any extreme tunes. I still have the stock head bolts, and havent had any problems other than what I said above. I run the street tune for daily driving and the tow tune well for when I tow. It took me a long time to realize I made a mistake with the Banks, but I leaned and will never look back.

Hope that helps and sorry for the long post and thread hijack

haha dont worry about the post.. You aint hijackin the thread when i started it and espec since the quest i orig asked bout the high idle mod has been asnwered and i already completed the mod lol. Ive been wantn to run a tune but i use my rig as a work truck. And i cant afford unreliablity. I also am afraid of makin it unreliable as my truck has only been in the shop once for eng probs in 82k and that was the STC fittin. Now my tech and i tlaked about a chip and he said as long as i get a good tuner like a SCT and not some crappy tuner like a banks, then he aint gonna void my warrenty but then it makes me think do i trust his word on that? Since youv have to replace your oil cooler, injector 1 etc, was that all under warrenty or did you have your warrenty voided when you installed the SCT?

Nope I still have the remainder off the engine warranty until November 2010, and I also have an ESP that brings me out another 2 years I believe. I dont do anyhing to this truck unless I consult with the dealer first. I am a tech. and I can fix it myself but its got a warranty so why not use it. If I get another 60k out of the oil and egr cooler then I will delete it when its out of warranty, other than that if you tune it drive just like you do now, it will be hard, but you should be ok.

Before you tune it make sure you have guages. But remeber these trucks have isues when not tuned. Some people have had good luck with the tuned trucks some have not. I guess I would relate it to the way its maintained and driven.

Ahh, so you ask your tech before you mod? Thats the way my tech is. Its just always in the back of my mind that if i mod they could always be that chance that he will void my warrenty since he could be "tryin to get me to mod" but i always see him work on tuned 6.0s and the ones he works on have great success with bein reliable. And i guess you can say it also depends on how often u use that tune. Now what if a part broke that the tuner caused it to brake? Would ya still be covered

I cant speak for your dealership, but I expect that if I caused a probelm with the truck then I should pay to fix it.

When they rebuilt the turbo they found that the Banks hose had a split in it, so I paid for it, why should Ford warranty a part that I installed that isnt OEM.

I always consul with the tech, because for the next 3 years or so he has to deal with it. If the head gaskets go, I will ask him if he would replace them, if not then I will do it myself, and at that poitn there will be no more EGR either.
