??? good question, I wonder if the hose is a std. length and the metal tube is longer or is the rubber hose longer?... I have both set ups at my friends shop...where I store my extra crews and parts trucks, but I won't be able to get there until later this week to check on that for you

You're dealing with another ghost...meaning, it's very tough to find those parts.
You do NOT have the standard aft-of-axle steel 19gal tank here.
You have a plastic 19.3/20.5 gal aft-of-axle poly tank used for 140" wheelbase trucks.

To test the sending unit:
Measure the ohms on the poles, it should read 10 ohms for empty; 70 ohms for full. Numbers vary, but as close as possible, the better.

The skid plate you pulled out is the sole support for the 20.5 poly tank. Repair or fab a new piece.
