I replaced the coolant expansion tank with a nice brand new WHITE one instead of the ten year old yellow nasty looking one and put a new hose that goes out the bottom. Ten years is long enough for me and the new white tank looks great. You can actually see the color of the coolant through it! Heater hoses are now 10 years old. I am not saying that's the lifespan, just saying it could use a preventative maint. change-out.
tank would be nice but not right now
yep, im replacing the bottom hose, top one looks alright so ill keep it
i was thinking along the lines of belt tensioner/pullys, stuff with bearings attached to the belt.. moving parts?
How many miles on it? Tensioner was bad at 150k on mine. There's the upper hose, the lower hose, and the vertical hose that is under and behind the white tank. That's the one I'm talking about.
I've had my truck since Jan. 1, 2010 and I don't know what has been done to it. It has 157,000 miles on it now.
I'am replacing the:
Water pump, riff raff
thermostat, riff raff
housing, riff raff
upper and lower hoses, napa
coolant temp. sensor, napa
tensioner pulley, napa
idler pulley, napa
serpentine belt, ford
ford premium gold coolant, 4 gal.
and have done a complete distilled water flush (27 gal.).
I don't know your situation, but it made no sense to me not to do it under the circumstances. In my 50 years of driving, I have been left stranded in the middle of nowhere a lot more than once because of the failure of some of the parts listed above.
