Have an 86 F250 w/6.9L.. Starts fine when warmer plugged in. Runs fine after started. Is it the controller or the glow plugs themselves. Whats the best way to determine which is going or is bad?
Thank you for the reply however I have looked thru and read them but didnt find anything exact to the query of my question. I found how to chk the glow plugs but im still trying to find if it would be the controller, the relay or the glow plugs themselves. Im a novice to the diesel engines but it seems to me that if the truck starts while hooked up to the engine warmer that it could very well not be the glow plugs that are bad. I just need some direction as to where to start the diagnostic so as I dont purchase anything unnecessary. Thank you and I will keep looking.
